Aged 81; (1957 served as a page in the United States Senate under then Senator Stuart Symington/served a short time as council to the Public Service Commission in Jefferson City before being appointed to fill a vacancy as prosecuting attorney of Knox County, Missouri in 1968 by then Governor Warren Hearnes/opened his own law office in New London, MO & practiced law for over 50 years/served as prosecuting attorney of Ralls County from 1972-1981 and again from 1991-2006/served a term as president of the 10th Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Bar and in 1979 served as president of the Missouri Prosecuting Attorneys Association/served on the board of Barkley Cemetery in New London for over forty years with a term as president/appointed to the Board of Governors of Truman State University in 1997 by Governor Mel Carnahan and served a term as president in 2002 before his term expired in 2005/served on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar Association from 1990-2002, serving as president from 2000-2001/50+ year member of Ralls Lodge #33 A.F. & A.M. of Missouri/50+ year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks/50+ year member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry/40+ year member of the New London Lions Club/served on the Ralls County Democrat Committee and most recently was appointed by Governor Jay Nixon to the Missouri Highway Commission where he served from 2015-2022); son of the late John Charles "Jack" Briscoe & the late Alma Jean (Stuart) Briscoe (b. 1/25/1942 Hannibal, Marion County, MO); 1959 graduate of Hannibal High School (Hannibal, Marion County, MO), 1963 graduate of Westminster College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Fulton, Callaway County, MO & 1966 graduate of the University of Missouri with a Juris Doctor Degree (Columbia, Boone County, MO); husband of Mary Joy (Porter) Briscoe (m. 6/18/1970 Las Vegas, Clark County, NV) & she preceded him in death on 10/27/2020); father of John Wilford Briscoe II, Andrew William Briscoe & Dr. Philip Porter Briscoe; brother of two brothers who died in infancy, James Asa Briscoe & Jesse Andrew Briscoe
