Aged 81; (former Catholic nun & parochial school teacher/eventual homemaker & mother/middle school teacher at Monroe City Middle School in Monroe City, Monroe County, MO); daughter of the late Victor John Korenek, Sr. & the late Margaret Frances (Malchar) Korenek (b. 1/15/1940 Goose Creek, Harris County, TX); went to the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament Convent in Houston,TX, at age 16, where she remained a nun & teacher for 15 yrs.; wife of William Leo "Bill" Smith (m. 8/26/1972 Sacred Heart Church in Abilene, TX) & he survives; mother of Samuel John "Sam" Smith, Sally Ann (Smith) Lemongelli, Margaret Frances (Smith) Wilcoxon, Leo Victor Smith V, Mary Katherine (Smith) Sims & the late Captain Benedict Joseph "Ben" Smith (who was KIA in Iraq); mother-in-law of Margaret Jane (Bradley) Smith Ramos Amadei (who was listed as an honorary daughter in the obit); sister of Patricia Ann "Pat" (Korenek) Caporina, Joseph Leon "Joe" Korenek, Julia Irene "Julie" (Korenek) Hopkins, Mary Margaret (Korenek) Knox & the late Victor John Korenek, Jr.
