On February 18, about 40 people attended a memorial marker dedication ceremony to honor Nathaniel C. Bruce, the founder of the former Bartlett Agricultural & Industrial School
The school became the Dalton Vocational School where many black students from Chariton & other surrounding counties attended until it closed in 1956
